Behavioral Health

What is Integrated Behavioral Health?

Integrated Behavioral Health is a combination of medical and behavioral health services at Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Grand Portage Health Services.  It addresses the full range of health care in one location.  Telehealth is also an option for most sessions and can be arranged with your therapist.

What behavioral health services are offered at the clinic?

Behavioral Health Appointments

Behavioral Health Appointments are up to 30 minutes long. They are meant to be short-term and goal-oriented sessions that help you identify and set into place a plan to meet your goals. This appointment type centers around solution-focused behavioral changes. Depending on what issues you are needing support with, we are available to work on a variety of issues. These include but are not limited to:

      • Coping strategies for anxiety and depression
      • Methods for improving sleep
      • Smoking cessation
      • Parenting support
      • Grief and loss
      • Family and couples support
      • Losing weight

Behavioral Health Appointments are for anybody and everybody and even one appointment can be helpful. During your first visit, you will meet with a Behavioral Health Consultant and make a plan together. This plan might involve weekly Behavioral Health Appointments, monthly check-ins, or you may discuss if Counseling Appointments would be a good fit.

Counseling Appointments

Counseling Appointments are up to an hour long and take place in the lower level of the clinic in private, comfortable offices. These appointments allow time and space for deeper processing. Some of our therapists have specific training in EMDR, trauma, DBT, CBT, early childhood and parenting, and family therapy.

If you are interested in traditional talk therapy please call the clinic to first schedule a Behavioral Health Appointment with one of our therapists to talk about your needs and determine if Counseling Appointments are a good fit.

Support for Families

We try to meet with as many families as we can who are at the clinic for Well Child Exams or other appointments. From infants to teens we can help provide you with the information, tools, and support you need to be a happier and healthier family. Some of these topics may include but are not limited to:

      • Bonding with your newborn
      • Sharing parental responsibilities
      • Potting training
      • Daycare or school concerns
      • Approaching puberty
      • Bullying
      • Sexually active teens
      • College and career decisions
      • Screen time and technology use

Please ask your provider if a Behavioral Health Consultant is available to check in with you during your visit.
